A reference on the young and talented artist Romeo Melikyan, whose emergence holds pleasant surprises for the seasoned art critic. Having graduated only from an art college, the young artist seeks to stake his claim with a certain store of identity and worldview, in which the tension of modernity and its dramatic accents compel the viewer to enter that "field of art," fixing his own restless inner state within ordinary images of reality. Man, nature and the world of objects never appear in his work as passive, contemplative, mirror-like reflections; they exist within a field of tension, marked by distinct elements of identity. Already familiar at such an early age with the currents of world art, he finds expressionism, dynamism and dramatism closest to him, harmonising them with the restless vibrations of a metaphysical luminescence. I believe the young artist will have the perseverance and prudence to value his own virtues rightly, and not to be carried away by the illusion of momentary success — for art is a creed, and an enduring state of the spirit.
